Who are info4africa

info4Africa is a self-funded Centre of the School of Applied Human SciencesCollege of HumanitiesUniversity of KwaZulu-Natal.  We were established in 2001.  Our offices are located on the Howard College Campus of UKZN, however we work across the whole of South Africa.  Our Director, Debbie Heustice, has been with the organisation since it’s inception, when we were known as the Centre for HIV/AIDS Networking (HIVAN). info4africa specializes in data collection, data quality assurance and development of health strengthening support tools.  Our service finder database is free to use and helps people locate health, wellbeing and related services and support anywhere in South Africa.

Our Track Record

  • Produced over 100 unique directory products for a variety of clients;
  • Disbursed over 200 000 directories across South Africa;
  • Created a number of mobile phone or mhealth products that ensure that referral support is never further away than the phone in your hand.
  • Collated information on over 15 000 health and wellbeing organisations on the info4africa national database.  The database covers all sectors ensuring that we can help anyone locate support in their community or refer clients to services in other areas of the country.  We can offer the perfect health and wellbeing support solution for diverse communities including key populations.
  • Host over 20 networking and capacity building forums and training events each year, ensuring that critical health information is disseminated within the HIV service community.
  • Developed and continue to expand the first museum of HIV in South Africa – providing youth and the community of practice, with a vibrant educational space for dialogue, debate and ongoing learning in HIV, TB and related health matters.
